White City is an unincorporated community of about 3,800 residents where Midway Road marks the northern boundary of the North Fork St. Lucie Aquatic Preserve. FDEP notes 1890s settlements at Spruce Bluff and White City, and the community touches the North Fork near the mouths of Tenmile and Fivemile creeks.

Natural banks and rainfall flooding

Much of the upper North Fork here has natural banks. New vertical walls on natural estuary shorelines are allowed only in narrow cases, so planted or living shorelines are often the more realistic path.

Florida exempts native plantings along up to 500 feet of eroding shoreline, within 10 feet of mean high water, with conditions. Florida Statutes s. 373.414 - Additional criteria for activities in surface waters and wetlands · Fla. Admin. Code R. 62-330.051 - Exempt Activities

What could the work cost?

Ask for a vegetative or living-shoreline option alongside any structural proposal; costs per foot are typically a fraction of a wall.

Published examples are attributed context from Treasure Coast and nearby South Florida sources, not a Port St. Lucie average or a quote. Your wall needs a property-specific written scope.

A White City checklist

Use these steps to gather records and prepare a property-specific conversation. Public records and project references do not describe the condition of your wall.

  1. Pull the permit history

Search the address on the city or county permit portal for seawall, dock and lift permits and their final inspections before the first site visit.

  2. Check the preserve line

Lots south of Midway Road front the preserve.

  3. Price a planted option

Compare a living shoreline with any wall proposal.

  4. Use the county checklist

Prepare the marine submittal with agency approvals.
