Martin County’s part of Hutchinson Island runs from the St. Lucie County line south past the Jensen Beach Causeway and Stuart Beach. The county has maintained its northern four miles of coast against erosion since 1996 with the Army Corps and FDEP, on an eight-year nourishment cycle.

Beaches, condos and the lagoon
A renourishment of about four miles from the county line to Stuart Beach, funded with Nicole relief money, was scheduled for early 2026. TCPalm found six Martin County condo associations with substantial structural deterioration and noted that saltwater accelerates rebar corrosion.
In 2004, FDEP recorded Jeanne destroying a 50-foot concrete seawall and leaving revetments at two Martin County condominiums totally exposed. $13M+ beach renourishment to begin in early 2026 in Martin County (Keith Burbank, Aug. 22, 2025) · Why 54 Florida condo buildings were deemed 'unsafe or uninhabitable' (July 29, 2026) · Hurricane Frances & Hurricane Jeanne Post-storm Beach Conditions and Coastal Impact Report
What could the work cost?
Condo associations should tie seawall and revetment planning to their structural inspections and reserves.
Published examples are attributed context from Treasure Coast and nearby South Florida sources, not a Port St. Lucie average or a quote. Your wall needs a property-specific written scope.
