Palm City seawall planning
Seawall planning in Palm City: South Fork canals, Lighthouse Point, the C-44 and Lake Okeechobee releases, C-23, Martin County permits and shoreline rules.
Describe your project on this page ↓Get to know your waterfront
Palm City is an unincorporated Martin County community of about 25,900 residents where the North Fork, South Fork, St. Lucie Canal (C-44) and creeks such as Mapps, Danforth and Bessey meet. Jenkins Point in Palm City marks part of the North Fork aquatic preserve’s southern boundary.

Discharges, salinity and surge
Lake Okeechobee releases reach the South Fork through the C-44, so salinity, sediment and algae swings are part of waterfront life. During Nicole, officials reported water intrusion into some homes in the Lighthouse Point area.
The C-23 (St. Lucie–Martin county line canal) is an SFWMD work of the district with structure S-48 near its mouth; structures in its right-of-way need a 40E-6 permit. What could the work cost?
Replacement of permitted walls goes to the county Building Department; ask for elevation and drainage options if your lot took water in Nicole.
Published examples are attributed context from Treasure Coast and nearby South Florida sources, not a Port St. Lucie average or a quote. Your wall needs a property-specific written scope.

A Palm City checklist
Use these steps to gather records and prepare a property-specific conversation. Public records and project references do not describe the condition of your wall.
Pull the permit history
Search the address on the city or county permit portal for seawall, dock and lift permits and their final inspections before the first site visit.
Identify your water
South Fork, North Fork, C-44 or a creek: each has different exposure.
Check the C-23 right-of-way
Canal-front lots on the C-23 may need an SFWMD permit.

Record storm water levels
Note high-water marks from storms for the designer.
