Riverview waterways seawall planning
Seawall planning in Port St. Lucie’s Riverview neighborhood: Harborview, Degan and South Coral Reef waterways, dredging records and permits.
Describe your project on this page ↓Get to know your waterfront
Riverview is the city neighborhood along the west bank of the North Fork that holds the Harbor (Harborview), Degan and South Coral Reef waterways, with small portions reaching Floresta Pointe and Lyngate. All three appear on the city’s list of tidal ocean access waterways, whose waterways serve 743 single-family lots in total.

Short canals with river exposure
Harborview, Degan and South Coral Reef were among the eight waterways dredged in 2010; residents could hire their own contractors to dredge next to banks and docks, removing another 1,924 cubic yards.
Short canals that open onto the river can carry wake and storm energy to the lots nearest the mouth. Ask the inspector to compare walls near the mouth with those at the dead end, and to look for toe scour and cap separation. What could the work cost?
If several neighbors on one short canal need work, ask for a shared mobilization price; each owner still needs a separate permit.
Published examples are attributed context from Treasure Coast and nearby South Florida sources, not a Port St. Lucie average or a quote. Your wall needs a property-specific written scope.

A Riverview waterway checklist
Use these steps to gather records and prepare a property-specific conversation. Public records and project references do not describe the condition of your wall.
Pull the permit history
Search the address on the city or county permit portal for seawall, dock and lift permits and their final inspections before the first site visit.
Identify the waterway
Check whether your lot fronts Harbor, Degan or South Coral Reef on the city canal map.
Coordinate with neighbors
Neighboring walls share returns and drainage; see the neighbor-project guide before getting bids.

Plan around manatee conditions
In-water work typically carries FWC’s standard manatee conditions, including shutdown if a manatee comes within 50 feet.

Riverview project questions
Can I dredge in front of my own wall?
In the 2010 project, residents could hire contractors for areas next to banks and docks. Dredging needs its own permits.
What permits does a repair need?
A city permit, plus the state, federal and water-management approvals the city asks to see. Many restorations within 18 inches are state-exempt.
